McDonald’s enters strategic partnership with IBM to automate drive-thru lanes

McDonald’s stated Wednesday it has entered a strategic partnership with IBM to develop synthetic intelligence know-how that may assist the fast-food chain automate its drive-thru lanes.

As a part of the deal, IBM will purchase McD Tech Labs, which was previously generally known as Apprente earlier than McDonald’s purchased the tech firm in 2019. McDonald’s did not disclose monetary phrases for both transaction.

“In my mind, IBM is the ideal partner for McDonald’s given their expertise in building AI-powered customer care solutions and voice recognition,” McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski stated on the earnings name with analysts Wednesday.
